I am committed to protecting all data you share with me, in compliance with GDPR regulations.
All information is stored securely, either in a locked filing cabinet, on a password-protected personal computer, or an encrypted memory stick. Contact numbers on my mobile phone (stored by initial only) are protected by a PIN.
The legal basis for holding information is so that I may provide professional counselling services, as well as contact clients as necessary in accordance with the services they have requested, and to maintain accounting records.
The records I keep are brief and intended for my sole use.
Rest assured that everything you discuss with me is confidential. Confidentiality will only be broken in exceptional circumstances to protect your safety or the safety of others, or if the law requires it.
You have the right to see your records, which I will provide upon written request.
Information and records are kept for seven years after the end of sessions, at which point they are destroyed.
If you make an enquiry and then decide you do not want to have counselling with me, I will delete your data by the end of the following calendar month.
I am registered with the Information Commissioner’s Office. For information, go to ico.org.uk.
